FALL FUN IN MALTON - Hello September!

Hello all the Malton Mommas out there,

I know, I know, we have been pretty inactive with regards to the group for quite sometime. The reason for that is we have been crazy-busy with the juggling act that is being a modern mom. We are back on track, and wanted to update you with what's going on in Malton and what are plans are moving forward.

Updates:

Malton Moms will be resuming monthly meetings in October on the last Wednesday of the month - 6:30 pm in the Library.

We will be meeting at the Malton Library for the time being, and are negotiating space with the Community Centre and Malton Neighbourhood Services.

We are currently applying for a grant to increase our community work and programming. Camar, Crystal and Victoria are working on this, wish us well! This development could mean great things for our community.

Heather had a new baby named Riley. He is squishy, cute and adorable! Racquel, Rachelle and Abigail have moved away. We wish both families well. New Life and a New Home are great adventures. Currently, Crystal is working at the Malton Community Health Centre and their will be a number of Community Input and Engagement Events happening which you will all be invited out to. A new health centre in Malton will be up and running in about 18 months. Check out the site http://www.mymalton.ca/ - the blog will be updated with an article written by Crystal on Health & Wellness.

Malton Community Centre has some really good programs including: Steve Nash Basketball, Soccer, Hip Hop and Dance. Please, if you can send your children to these programs. Financial help, if necessary, may be available. Please ask about Active Assist or click on www.mississauga.ca/portal/residents/activeassist to find out more. There are subsidies available for up to $275.00 per family members to enjoy programming for one year. It is definetely worth checking out.

Oh! Before I forget, and really, I dont want to toot our own horn, but Camar and Crystal recently completed the Parent Education Facilitator course with the Family Education Centre in Brampton. One of our near future goals are to have parenting groups and discussions to benefit families in the Malton Community. FEC is a really great organization, please feel free to have a look at the webpage www.familyedcentre.org

Summer Begins!!! - Next Malton Moms Meeting - June 16th, 2008.

Monday June 16th, 6.30pm at the Malton Community Centre, Malton Moms will host its Summer Trip Planning Meeting. We strive to come out of the meeting decided on where we will plan to go for at least 3 trips during the months of June, July and August.



Please bring your ideas, information and pricing to the next meeting. So far, it looks like the Fire Station, Zoo, and Kidtopia are favourites. We are open to more options as well.



As always, prices will aim to be accessible so that all will attend. We will strive to have a number of sliding scale spaces open.



Malton Moms has a new phone number 905.677.6539. We will also have a table June 21 at the Malton Community Fair, in the Community Centre, 1-3pm.

Reminder for Malton Moms Trip Planning Committee, we are going to meet on Friday, 7 pm for ONE HOUR to discuss trip planning for the summer season. The meeting will be at the Malton Community Centre. There will be no meeting this coming Monday, long weekend.

Hello Malton Moms!

Believe it or not, Spring will soon be here! I hope all of you are enjoying Easter Break. The circus has been to town, there are lots of great offerings at Malton Community Centre (please come and see the board) and I believe that the upcoming season will be blooming with surprise, new ideas, and adventure for us, right within our community! I am sending you an email on Current Updates to our group and meeting dates. For those of you who attended the Family Day Science Centre Trip, thank you! It was a wonderful day and great success. We hope to create an annual Family Day excursion and with your support, anything is possible. The following is a list of our next meeting dates. These are all held on MONDAYS - 6.30 pm, at the Malton Community Centre. Simply come in and ask the front desk which room we are in. You are all welcome to bring something to add to our potluck style for refreshment.

We try our best to email the agenda a few days before the meeting. The atmosphere is really casual and we invite you to bring forward your ideas to talk. Some of the headlines we discuss topics under are : Community Development, Community Concerns and Complains, Advocacy and Activism, Trips, Planning, Schools, Moral Support, Membership, New Business and Continuing Projects. In the upcoming months we will be discussing: advocating for new services for Westwood Mall, starting a Business Improvement Association /Collective for Malton, advocacy letters to Winners, finalizing our charitable status, grants for arts and performance, children's yoga program and summer trips.
